The Department of Scientific Services, Ministry of Health has found a health product containing an undeclared and unauthorised pharmaceutical active ingredient in Health Products.

The product, BAINIAN GINKGO NIAO SUAN WAN from Taiwan, uses contaminated ingredients. If taken without medical supervision, it can cause harmful effects that are dangerous to health, especially if taken continuously. It can cause increase blood glucose levels leading to diabetes, high blood pressure, cataract, muscular and bone disorders, and an increased risk of infections. The Ministry of Health has not issued any approval for the importation for the sale of this product. Members of the public who have purchased or used this product are advised to stop taking them immediately.
